Lewes Rail was formed in 2020 to promote better rail services for the area. Here are some of our specific aims:
- Reduction in rail fares
- The re-introduction of direct services from Lewes to London Bridge
- The re-introduction of direct services to Ashford International
- The re-introduction of direct services from train services from Newhaven Seaford to London Bridge and Victoria
- To encourage the railway companies and Great British Railways to promote railway services from the ferry terminal at Newhaven to London
- The re-introduction of the rail link between Lewes and Uckfield
- Improved bus/rail interchange
- More stopping services for the outlying stations
- Improved cycle capacity on trains
- Removal of ticket barriers
- opening up of the concourse area between platform 2 and 3 at Lewes station to shops and commerce
- Improved bus and vehicle are access to the station car park at Lewes
- Universal smart card tickets across all rail operators’ networks
- conversion of the roof space at Lewes station to take solar panels
